Inmate texting apps are a great way to keep in contact with a loved one or friend who is currently in prison. These apps are designed to be in compliance with prison regulations and allow family members and friends to send messages, pictures video calls, eCards and even money to their trust accounts at prison. In addition to these messaging apps, there are also several federal inmate apps that offer additional services, such as video visits and phone calls.
JPay is one example. It allows family and friends to transfer money directly into an inmate's trust account. It also allows videos, photos, emails and electronic cards. They can also create personalized postcards using their own images. It's a safe and more secure alternative to traditional postal mail.
Another popular messaging app for prisoners is GettingOut. It provides "simple reliable, secure communication" between inmates with their loved family members. The app is available at select correctional facilities, and allows inmates to upload pictures and message family members and friends using their tablets. It costs inmates $0.25 per message, and loved ones pay for the data used to access their messages (but not for explicit photos). The GettingOut app allows users to upload photos to Facebook or Foursquare or check-in on Foursquare and also add an YouTube video.
